God's Skies Are Blue

God's people have written songs of praise and comfort since the first days of the church. Through sheer numbers many fade into obscurity and their wonderful words become forgotten or lost to us. I am going to try and post the lyrics to one of these great old hymns each week if for no other purpose than that they will bring comfort to a few hearts as they did to so many hearts years ago. Here's my first offering:

GOD'S SKIES ARE BLUE

If raindrops fall when most you wish for sunshine,
Grieve thou no more;
Behind the clouds the sun is ever shining,
Storms will pass o’er

If sorrow deep in heaven’s love and mercy,
Faith points above
To where the light of His dear face is shining
On those we love

If o’er a new-made grave the tears are falling,
Faith points above
To where the light of His dear Face is shining
On those we love

What though the cares of life press thick upon you,
Never despair
For since God watches, nothing shall befall that
You cannot bear.

CHORUS
God’s skies are blue,
And shine with heaven’s radiance each gloomy day;
Although His hand lets fall a cloudy curtain,
It will pass away;
