Give Peace A Chance

It seems not a day goes by that we don't hear about more of our brave and dedicated military personel dying at the hands of some psychopathic homicide bomber in Iraq. I know it is probably a waste of time and words, but I'd like say a word or two to those that are orchestratring these bombings, the brave gentlemen who think fighting a war is done by sending others out to deliberately kill themselves and hopefully a few enemy at the same time.

In 1969, Paul McCartney and John Lennon wrote and published a song and its lyrics point out the futile nature of so much of what we get excited about on a day to day basis and makes a rather simple request. Why not read through them and take the meaning to heart?

It seldom hurts to give something new a chance to work. What have you got to loose?

The Koran

Just one more quick note to our Muslim friends. Without exception, the majority of people that die in your suicide bombings in Iraq are fellow Muslims that just happen to be there. They are innocent civilians who hold no ill will to you, or your dedication to your faith. Mohammed wrote "It belongs not to a believer to slay a believer, except it be by error." Since you know civilians will be killed, and can chose not to set off the bomb in that place, at that time, or even at all, is it really an error?
REMEMBER

I don't want to put a damper on your holiday but I have another request to make. As you and your family come together this year to celebrate our Savior's birth don't forget that there is a very good likelihood that another gathering is taking place that day or perhaps the day before. It is the unexpected gathering where a military chaplain and another officer visit a family to tell them their father, husband, brother, sister, mother, wife will not be coming home because they have given the ultimate gift this year. Their life.
